Head of Category Management

market leading e-commerce company

As the new Head of Category, you will build and lead a new core function at Trendhim. With your dedicated team, you will be responsible for the category strategy including pricing, assortment, innovation, and distribution channels, across more than 25 markets and over 20 categories creating in the range of DKK 300m in annual turnover.

A customer-driven category strategy has been identified as a core strategic priority to deliver on Trendhim’s growth ambitions. A new category function is therefore established to drive growth through strategic pricing decisions, launching new products and categories, as well as securing new distribution channels. All decisions are based on data leading to strong customer insights, and you will refer to the CCO and work closely with the other teams in Trendhim Commercial. We expect you to build a team of dedicated employees reporting directly to you.

Tasks & Responsibilities

You and the specialists you add to the team will over time handle the tasks below. We do not expect you to have deep competences or long management experience in all areas, but that you have the knowledge and leadership DNA to lead and develop the team.
  • Implement customer-driven assortment strategy across all Trendhim’s main categories to ensure an attractive assortment that attracts new shoppers and enables trade up.
  • Implement the right price strategy that is competitive within each market. You own the pricing strategy, and in the close collaboration with the CCO you manage the portfolio of categories and SKUs to balance volume, revenue, and profit.
  • Make product/collection launches a key driver of revenue.
  • Ensure implementation of an innovation/product launch process 
  • Lead expansion into new categories and drive the process from identifying potential to defining the right category positioning and overall launch planning. This includes the launch of new 3rd party brands.
  • Lead the strategy to secure new distribution online and potentially offline.
  • Lead the category team and ensure it becomes a cornerstone in the business.
  • Play an active role in the extended management team.
Must-haves:
  • Experience in category management and innovation process leadership from a consumer-driven/DtC/FMCG company.
  • Experience in market analysis and work with demand spaces, consumer archetypes, or other strategic segmentation models.
  • Proven ability to convert market/customer insights into successful concepts or product innovations that drive revenue and profit growth.
  • Ability to build customer attractive assortments via the right product features and pricing ladders (good-better-best) that appeal to customers and drive sales (trade in and trade up).
  • Ability to apply a level of “købmandsskab” to drive the commercial agenda (ideally you have worked across both sales and category functions).
