Senior Director – Financial Crime Prevention in Bankdata
A unique leadership position with overall responsibility for managing and developing the Financial Crime Prevention area consisting of an organisation of approximately 30 employees, including several managers.
Reporting directly to the SVP of Customer Platforms at Bankdata, you will be responsible for an area that receives high attention from the top management and customers. Your focus will be on continuously developing the area through leadership, tech development and broad stakeholder management, both internally and externally with member banks. This role offers the opportunity to drive strategic initiatives and projects across the organisation while also managing day-to-day operations in the area together with your skilled leadership team.
The area covers AML and Antifraud. The technology stack is a combination of both new and older own-developed systems and technologies, as well as third-party systems and services providers such as SAS Institute and Safewatch. Several of these systems are business-critical in relation to the banks’ payment flows. Therefore, you must always ensure high efficiency, reliable data, and systems with high uptime and service standards.
The stricter regulatory requirements and increasing customer expectations for frictionless digital services place additional demands on staying ahead of developments and continuously upgrading systems and services. Going forward, there is a strong need for integrated AI-driven platforms.
Taking the area to the next level - combining leadership, tech and stakeholder management
This is a newly established role that offers significant potential to shape its direction, and you are expected to take ownership and make a clear impact. You will lead an organisation with teams based in Fredericia and Aarhus, and you will be a part of the extended leadership team across Bankdata.
The mission for the area is to fight financial crime, and your key tasks will be to:
- Set and drive the strategic agenda and be a clear opinion former within FCP.
- Lead visibly and build trust through clear goals, honest communication, and a steady sense of direction.
- Mentor and develop the existing leadership team and build a leadership/talent pipeline.
- Ensure the right organization, including continuous development of managers and talent within the area as well as attracting new employees.
- Secure a strong team culture based on inspiration, collaboration and learning.
- Build a strong relation to the customers and act as a trusted advisor to the key stakeholders.
- Act as sparring partner to the SVP within the area.
- Bring a tech mindset to the role. Define a clear vision for the solutions and services and communicate it through a roadmap outlining the technical direction and transformation.
- Balance own development activities with trade-off to “buy it outside”. Have a constant focus on upgrades and on building the best and most suitable solutions for the member banks.
- Manage the area’s finances, including budgeting and forecasting, and the area’s agenda within risk, compliance and security activities.
It is crucial for your success that you are able to navigate in an environment where regulations are a daily reality and where strong collaboration is essential. Ultimately, what matters most is delivering highly efficient and trustworthy systems that create satisfied customers. The member banks should experience you as a strategically minded technology leader who understands how to use resources in the smartest and most effective way to combat fraud.
Strong leadership profile with solid experience in the FCP area and/or in tech companies
There are different ways into this position. You may currently lead a Financial Crime area or one of the related domains, such as AML or Antifraud, as a Senior Director, Director, or a Senior Manager with potential. Your experience may come from either a technical role or a commercial role within a financial institution, financial services company, or bank. Alternatively, you may have gained your experience working for a supplier of external systems or licensed solutions within the FCP field.
You could also be a strong technology leadership profile who has developed a solid tech mindset in an innovative software development company within tech products, data or AI solutions.
You excel in leadership and have experience with change management, employee development, and motivation. You naturally coach and guide your team of managers and have experience in developing roadmaps and concepts, as well as playing an active role in their implementation.
You have experience with new and older technologies and persist a strong vision for the technological agenda within the field.
Your business experience comes from medium to large companies that are mature in software development and have a strong digital focus. This background ensures you are accustomed to operating within a similar business model and understand what great looks like in that context.
As a person, you are a strong communicator and good at building relationships across the entire organisation. You are performance-driven and ambitious, and as a leader, you are able to set direction, drive change, and get people onboard. You possess business acumen and the ability to act as a trusted advisor. In your day-to-day work, you are self-driven and structured.
