Shell Biogas A/S/Nature Energy

Since its origins in 1979 as Naturgas Fyn, Shell Biogas A/S (formerly Nature Energy) has been a pioneer in energy supply and green transformation. From being Denmark’s first natural gas supplier to households, the company has evolved into one of the world’s largest producers of grid-injected biogas. With 13 plants across Denmark, operations in France, and expansion across Europe and North America, Shell Biogas A/S plays a key role in reducing CO₂ emissions and promoting circular economy solutions.

Today, as a fully owned subsidiary of Shell under its Low Carbon Solutions business, they are scaling up their biogas production globally to meet the rising demand for sustainable energy. With more than 550 employees, Shell Biogas’ ambition is to deliver on one of society’s most pressing challenges – decarbonizing heavy transport, industry, and agriculture.

Head of Feedstock Supply and Procurement

We are looking for a Head of Feedstock Supply and Procurement for Shell Biogas/Nature Energy to take on a pivotal leadership role in shaping the supply chain and procurement strategy for their European biogas business. This is a unique opportunity to join a company that plays a decisive role in reducing CO₂ emissions and driving the transition towards a more sustainable future.

As Head of Feedstock Supply and Procurement, you will hold overall responsibility for procurement and supply chain activities across the European plants. This includes both feedstock procurement (biomass and organic input materials) and non-feedstock procurement (technical goods and services). You will lead and develop a skilled procurement team, build strong supplier partnerships, and create effective processes that secure the right materials of the right quality and quantity to support efficient operations.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead, develop and inspire a professional procurement team, driving collaboration, high performance and people development
  • Define and execute supply and procurement strategies for both feedstock and non-feedstock categories across multiple plants
  • Build and manage strong supplier partnerships, including robust contracts and risk management frameworks
  • Ensure close alignment with operations and asset management to optimize plant efficiency and performance
  • Implement Shell’s global supply chain and procurement standards and frameworks to secure compliance, value creation and sustainability impact
  • Drive sustainability and safety as integral parts of all procurement activities
Solid Experience, Strong Negotiation Skills and Commercial Mindset
You have solid experience within supply chain, procurement or related areas, preferably combined with a broader background. You bring solid experience from large corporations and are used to operating with high complexity, large budgets and a wide variety of contracts. You have strong negotiation skills and solid experience across global markets – preferably within feedstock or biomass – or alternatively from sectors such as energy or agriculture. Relevant experience may come from working with wind farms, power plants, biogas facilities, chemical plants, refineries, or large-scale agricultural operations. You are comfortable managing risk in dynamic and fast-paced trading environments.

As a leader, you combine a strong commercial mindset with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across the value chain. You thrive in change and complexity, possess very good analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to understand impacts throughout the value chain that enables you to make fast and qualitative decisions. As a person you are motivated by driving transformation and creating sustainable impact.

You can be based anywhere in Denmark, but the role requires 1–2 days per week at the Odense headquarters – and 3–4 days weekly in the initial months to ensure visible leadership and onboarding. International travel will be limited, though some travel across Denmark to the plants and offices should be expected. Strong English skills are required.
