Global Procurement Director

Set the direction for global procurement – strengthen ABENA’s competitiveness

With global sourcing units, a significant yearly spend, and more than 29,000 products, procurement is a key commercial driver of the business.

As Global Procurement Director, you will have overall responsibility for the continued development of ABENA’s category-based procurement, with the aim of ensuring that individual categories contribute even more significantly to driving the business forward. Your responsibilities will also include global sourcing and supply chain planning & execution.

The role is positioned at the highest level of management. You will report directly to the CEO, be a member of the ABENA Leadership Team and lead a global organisation of approximately 60 employees. Your direct reports will include two Heads of Procurement, the Head of Supply Chain Planning & Execution, and the Head of Master Data.

This is a key position with significant influence on the Group’s profitability, security of supply, and competitiveness. At the same time, the ambition is to further strengthen procurement’s position in the value chain and in ABENA’s strategic management.

The tasks/your responsibilities
In addition to further developing the category-based procurement organisation, one of your most important responsibilities will be to contribute to the digital transformation across the value chain. You will build and ensure efficient processes across categories, countries and sourcing units. Leading through your managers, you will ensure strong category plans, clear KPIs, and effective execution.

Your responsibility is to:

  • develop the global procurement and category strategy in line with ABENA’s overall strategy.
  • develop the organisation, managers, and processes to increase efficiency.
  • ensure professional framework agreements, qualify major tenders, and follow up on KPIs.
  • ensure close collaboration between procurement, supply chain, in-house production, product development, and the international companies responsible for sales.
  • contribute to the digitalisation of procurement through ERP, e-sourcing, AI, and automation.

Global procurement from a strategic perspective
This is a senior international leadership role, making substantial management experience within procurement and category development a key requirement. In addition, you should have:

  • extensive experience with core procurement disciplines and an understanding of the entire value chain.
  • proven experience with managing managers and larger teams.
  • experience from a professional, international group.
  • experience with transformation and strategic development initiatives.
  • a process-oriented approach and an understanding of digitalization and IT.
  • the ability to be present in Aabenraa on a daily basis.

The attractive aspects of the job
You will get an exceptionally central procurement role in which procurement is not simply a support function but a significant part of ABENA’s commercial engine. The ambition is clear: the categories should play an even greater role in driving the business.
You report to the CEO and are a member of the senior leadership team while taking over a large international organisation with highly capable managers and employees. The role combines strategic influence, global leadership, and tangible commercial results - within a company of significant scale with a continued appetite for development and change.
